Family time away

We finally got to go away as a family to the beach.. We go to Fingal Heads every September school holidays and spend about 9 days here.. It is magical.  No shop for 10km except a cafe on the water and that is it.  The caravan park we stay at is just great.  Right on the beach, the cars give way to the kids, the kids have al the freedom in the world and all there is to do there is swim, surf, lay in the sun, sleep, eat, walk, and sleep.... did I mention that?  I love sleeping there as I cannot get enough of the sound and smell of the sweet ocean.  I would kill to live this close to the beach.. but $$$$ is pretty expensive wherever you go.

This is our van in the middle... perfect spot...

These liddle beauties come and sit next to us every morning and at sunset.. So placid.  I love Kookaburras..

Corey has a best mate there now.. Met him 3 years ago and cant wait to see each other every September.  They just play all day in the park and on the beach.

Corey's other little mate and his sister

Time out for Ken and I at Kingscliff together for brunch and a stroll on the beach

Our poor man started vomiting at 4am but only twice.. Had a nasty temp and slept pretty well all day.. Was obvioulsy a 24 hr bug as he was better the following day thank goodness.

My special little Ava come to see me and we met for the first time ever.  We bonded straight away and she trusted me to take her out to the ocean for her very first time.. I could not help myself laugh as she was the most excited wee girl I had ever seen.  Coming from Orange.. cold and snowy she has not had much time outdoors.  Second time at the beach for her.  First time she cried and cried..  Today she absolutely couldn't get enough of it.

I am such a proud Mum.. I have two amazing kids

Looove these photos of this wee monkey.. Playing peekaboo while taking photos

Born to be colourful

Hi everyone... I just want to touch base about Project Life, Colour and my scrapping.
I have only been doing Project LIfe for 8 months.  This year is my first.  To start with it totally blew me away as to how to scrap in a little space instead of a 12x12 page...
To start with I was pedantic about colour matching.... I did like it.. but then I wanted to venture out and mix it up a bit.  This is where I am at the moment... mixing.....

I love to have blending colours and I love mixing up colours and cards and core kits.  But I must say I have worked out my favorite is to keep to a blend of the same colours.  I think my work is neater and it just flows for me.  I find when I use lots of everything I tend to be getting more grey hairs at the time ... lol.....

When I use lots of colour I do tend to use a collection or 3 that match.. This is easy to do. I don't only use Becky Higgins Core kits either... I love the 12x12 papers that are being bought out atm... they are all so so beautiful and I simply cannot get enough of them.  I am the quiet paper addict!!! Love paper with all my heart... thats not sad is it?? LOL  I have a gorgeous stash but use all of it.  I rarely buy paper I dont end up using.

Above and below are my favorite colours atm and have been for months..

But then I do love the brights too... very fresh and happy looking I think.  I love to add embellies that pop on the page... you can have a simple journal card with an embellishment that pops.. makes all the difference

I like to use my favorite black journal pen to draw stitching around my cards sometimes.. love the effect if gives the journal card.
And yes below..... my fav colours again.. aqua, yellow and a bit of green.. Love LOVE love

So if you are having trouble with a page, make sure try both ways.. go with about 3 colours and stick to  them.... and then try going all out... a colourful paper range is nice to use.. just stick to the paper range and see what you like.. you may like to mix up the ranges too.. It works differently for me each week.
But that is the beauty of art... there are no rules.... just go with your creative mind at the time.
Take care everyone and ...... KEEP CALM & SCRAP AWAY

Life right now ....

Life for me is always going full speed!!!!  I wouldn't have it any other way!.. I love my life and I love my little family.
Corey has had his cast on for 8 weeks now and finally got it taken off yesterday just in time for our beach retreat for 9 days away. He is over the moon that he can go board riding and swim whenever his little heart desires.
This photo was taken at a quaint little cafe out at Beerwah only 15 min from where I live.
Donna Downey was here from America doing some mixed medium classes with the girls.  I went out to meet them.  Corey had the day off as it was swimming all day.  We love hanging out.

This day we took Corey for an icecream after school as he has been down in the dumps with his broken wrist.  Not being able to play games and swim and play cricket as normal. Thought we would give him a little pick me up .  I took advantage of taking my camera and had a few shots using different settings on my Canon 600D.  Still toooooo much to learn.  But time is just not on my side.

The little artist just like his Mumma ...... at home with his stash of chalk.

See.. down in the dumps..

My favorite man in the whole world

At least he has strength now to hold up his instrument to practice again

And I have decided to take up a bit of painting for a while.... been about 2 years since I was painting.  Mmmm .... very relaxing as there is no deadline lol like Project Life...

We are officially on holidays as of tonight for 10 days.  Cannot wait to be near the ocean and listen to the waves and smell the salt air.
Thanks for dropping in and having a read.
Off to do some blog hopping now myself.

Night night

Life Paper Scrapbooks Monthly Challenge

Hi ladies, this month Life Paper Scrapbook started their new Project Life Design Team blog posts. Be sure to pop over here and have a read up about all of us over there.

Life Paper Scrapbook has got a very exciting challenge for the month of September and it's all about Layers in Project Life.
Do you love to layer in your pages and journal cards??? I surely do.

I have below added a couple of my journal cards that I have in my PL album.
I always love layers and dimension on my pages.. Otherwise they just do not feel completed.  One of my most used and loved items is double sided foam tape.  I use this all the time to get dimension.  I also love lots of different textures on my pages i.e: flair buttons, wood veneer, die cuts and washi just to name a few.
So what are you waiting for... you have to be in to win right???

Join us for the LPS Project Life Challenge and have a chance to win a terrific prize from Gossamer Blue our fantastic PL Challenge sponsor.  They will be sponsoring the challenges every month and we could not be more delighted, the first prize is one of their new Life Pages kit!
Ruth will have a layout up next week using the last month's kit, the August Life Pages kit, I love the colours they used!  September is also looking amazing, the designs are so good, fun and easy to use.  So, who wold like to win this kit???

Cut out pictures like the arrow above and use double sided foam tape to give your card dimension and lots of layers.

Good luck and I will be taking a peek every day and night to see what everyone is submitting..

24/7 Simple Stories

Wow it has been just about a month since I have blogged and honestly I cannot believe how time and life is soo busy.. Drives me insane..
I have recently just had my daughter here for 5 days.  She and 6 other girls from Townsville flew down to compete in the Tough Mudda race.. It was a gross hard slog 23km of blood, sweat and tears... not to mention the sunburn.. of climbing walls, monkey bars, through cages of water under ground.... etc.. so not my cup of tea but about 25,000 competitors took park in this here on the Sunshine Coast last weekend.. The biggest challenge of Tough Mudda world wide so far.
I managed to get some awesome shots in this 5 hours being a spectator.
The girls contemplating crawling through the Electric Eel.. if you touch the wires crawling under them they will give you a little electric shock.  Nasty.

Trying to avoid touching the wires that zap you.

My tough liddle Mudda

5.15am before they started

Danielle climbing up the wall.. what a massive attempt. Everyone was so encouraging.

I have been busy as usual trying to get up to date with my Project Life but life actually just keeps getting in the way.. I am always busy and never really a spare moment to stop.  But last night I put together a layout I have been wanting to do for a while.  I miss doing my 12x12's so had fun creating last night of my little niece Indiana.

Well that's it for me tonight.. I have just done a split shift at work and Im dearly looking forward to jumping in my nice big fat bed.
Have a great weekend everyone.. off to Daisys to create with my girls tomorrow night. Cant wait x
Til then
